Agent Provocateur: Window DIsplay - Cold Hands, Hot Knickers

Here is a quick recap of our some of our favorite holiday windows displays in New York. Yes, we know it is January, but we never get tired of holiday merriment We believe in the Christmakwanzakah tradition of celebrating EVERYBODY’S holiday. And since Three Kings Day is in few days, we are still technically in the holiday season.

Plus many of the images below could be tweaked a bit and used for the upcoming Valentine’s Day holidays. The photos come courtesy of Racked, a cool blog about shopping, style and intelligence. At the end of December they do a “holly jolly” review of some of the most interesting holiday windows in New York.

Our criteria for unique window displays is a little different – it must involve a mannequin (after all we are Mannequin Madness). And like Racked, we tend to prefer the quirky ones that require more creativity than big budget. Most of our customers do not have the big budget of a Barney’s or a Bergdorf’s (the holy grail of holiday window displays) so we lean towards window displays for the lean budget.

We make exceptions here and there like this one, because although it is from Bloomingdales, the minimalist look is something that others could duplicate. Plus these “hats” could be made out of recycled ornaments (LOVE THAT).

Bigelow An Andy Warhol Christmas

C.O. Bigelow An Andy Warhol Christmas. We love this because it proves our theory that mannequins are not just for clothing stores. They are chemists that make fragrances.
