If you haven’t put up Valentine’s Day display in your store window yet, you still have before Monday. Here are some of the best displays we’ve seen to help inspire you to create your own.
Even if you don’t sell products traditionally associated with Valentine’s Day like flowers, chocolate or lingerie, you can still use this occasion to create an eye-catching display.
Why? Because you get more people to stop, look and come inside your store when they see something in their window that triggers their emotions. Just stacking products in the window is often not enough of an emotional pull – unless you are selling a highly coveted item “it” product like an Ipad or Birkin purse. Valentine’s Day pulls at people’s emotions – whether they are in love, want to be in love, have lost love, are learning how to love – so it is the perfect backdrop for almost any product.
This retailer is selling shoes, purses and belts in this Valentine’s window display. Vibrant red and purple colors in the window are a nice contrast to standout on gloomy, gray winter days.
But of course lingerie is top selling item for Valentine’s Day so if that is what you sell it is a “no brainer” that you use Valentine’s Day to showcase lingerie. But lingerie does not always have to be displayed in overtly sexy ways, it can be humorous, like this one also from Holt Renfrew
Or dramatic and sexy like this “Miss Valentine” display at Agent Provocateur in London.
We have 3 criteria that we look for when evaluating whether or not a store window display is noteworthy enough to be featured in our blog.
-it must be unique, something that makes us stop in our tracks and say WOW
- it must have elements that could easily be adopted by a retailer with a limited budget. We realize that few retailers have the financial and human resources of a store like Bergdorf Goodman’s to devote to their window displays. So creativity, not big budget expenditure is what we value in a window display.
- the window display must contain a mannequin – it could be a full mannequin, a 3/4 mannequin a dress form or even a mannequin part. Since we sell new and used mannequins (something for every budget) we are a little biased. Well actually we are VERY biased. Mannequins are silent salespersons – regardless of what products are being sold. Too many retailers think that mannequins are only for clothing stores. NOT TRUE!
This savvy florist used mannequins for her Valentine’s Day display and it is a show stopper.
Here are two different perspectives on special occasion dresses for Valentine’s Day. One retailer turned their windows into giant sized hearts to frame the clothing. The other retailer did not use hearts at all, but let the monochromatic red dresses on the mannequins convey the Valentine’s theme.
