Mannequins at a Museum Exhibit

When the Napa Valley Museum was planning to showcase costumes from the SF Opera for the “Mozart’s Muses” exhibition they needed special mannequins to display the garments. They turned to Mannequin Madness for the 21 assorted mannequins they needed to rent to host this exhibition.

For an exhibit of this scale, you can’t use just any run of the mill mannequin or dress form. For practical reasons you need mannequins that are sturdy enough to display costumes, which typically are heavily than normal clothes. Plus many of these garments had hoop skirts and big jewels so the cheap imported mannequins from China that many museums are forced to buy because of budget limitations are not appropriate for this type of exhibition.

And the mannequins need to look realistic looking enough to complement the garments, without being too high -fashion looking which would contrast from these period looks.
