This is my series devoted to the real life models who became Rootstein mannequins. The mannequins are also dressed in attire that provides a little bit of fashion history.

This is Joan Collins, Body Gossip Series, circa 1979. Joan is one of a handful of Rootstein Mannequins that wasn’t based on a fashion model AND she was much older. Rootstein made her taller than she is in real life, which you can see in the catalog photo.

Notice the clenched fist and hands on hip. Almost all the poses in the Joan Collins series were in take charge, take no prisoners. This was the first time American history when women were attaining positions of power in the work place and the poses were meant to convey a “Boss Lady” image.

The suit is an homage to the Alexis Carrington character she portrayed on Dynasty. The pose X6 styled in Nolan Miller The Dynasty Collection and vintage shoes. Nolan Miller designed the wardrobe for Dynasty circa 1981-1991 and produced a line for retailers “Nolan Miller The Dynasty Collection”.

Also in photos, Joan Collins eyeglasses display/samples and counter sign. Joan Collins wig box.
