At Mannequin Madness many of our customers are museums, but usually smaller museums who are buying our used mannequins to save money. But museums with large budgets have the resources to get custom made mannequins for special exhibitions.

This was the case with the Victoria and Albert museum in London for the Frida Kahlo exhibition. Fashion mannequins play a vital role in supporting exhibition design, and evoking a sense of the wearer.

Each one of the Frida Kahlo figures was custom-designed and built from scratch, inspired by a range of visual references, including photographs of the artist, measurements taken from her clothing, and even her paintings.

Below is a video with the behind the scenes creation of the Frida Kahlo mannequin.
