Does this woman look like someone who cares about sustainable fashion and reads the fashion pages of green sites like Treehugger? Well, she might not, but the company that she represents just received an Environmental Excellence award from Mannequin Madness.
See, Bebe is remodeling stores across the country and in some cases closing their PH8 stores. And since mannequins are made out of materials that are non-biodegrable like fiberglass and metal, they don’t belong in the landfill. So Bebe contacted Mannequin Madness to recycle their mannequins. We’ve recycled over 7,000 POUNDS of mannequins for them and still have more to go.
We save Bebe an average of $3,000 per store when they let us recycle their mannequins. Once we pick up the mannequins from Bebe stores all across the country, we resell these second hand mannequins to other businesses, non-profits and individuals who normally could not afford the cost of a new mannequin. Perfect example of a win/win situation. Wish more retailers would do that!
So to acknowledge Bebe for being a good corporate citizen, a conscious retailer and a leader in sustainable retailing (can you tell that we love Bebe, even if we can’t fit into their clothes?) we went to their headquarters in Brisbane to present them with an award.
Since the award is from Mannequin Madness, it had to reflect our corporate culture, so we had a special certificate made and put it in a hot pink frame. Our contact at Bebe, Malia Falemaka in the purchasing department loved it!
If you want to buy a used mannequin or have used mannequins to get rid of, contact Mannequin Madness. We are a national mannequin liquidator located in the SF Bay Area.
