This is my series devoted to vintage Rootstein mannequins. This is Penelope one of the few plus size mannequins Rootstein released.
I thought that the only plus size mannequins Rootstein produced were the Plump and Pretty series in the 1970’s. But according to this article, they released Penelope another plus size mannequin in 2016. Has anyone seen Penelope?
When the Penelope series was released they were marketed as curvy and sexy as opposed to using the term Plump and Pretty like they did before.
To me this is another example of how forward thinking the Rootstein company was (especially when the owner Adel was alive). They did a lot of industry “firsts”. And even though some of their ground breaking mannequins were not purchased by retail stores, at least Rootstein made them available.
