For the month of May (Asian heritage month) I am going to feature my series on the Asian mannequins that Rootstein produced.

This is Ariane Koizumi. She is Eurasian (half Dutch, half Japanese) and wears her hair short given her a slightly androgynous appearance.

One time when we recycled the mannequins at a Saks store that was closing the ONLY mannequins they had were Ariane and they are all painted the glossy black you see in the photo below.

She has strong similarities to another Eurasian model, Tina Chow, that Rootstein also made as a mannequin.

Ariane was a custom sculpture for Saks Fifth Avenue. They had her as an abstract, versus realistic version.

While some mannequins collectors have had her transformed into a realistic face like the photo above , I don’t think Rootstein every released a realistic version of Ariane. To the best of my knowledge there isn’t even a Rootstein catalogue with her image, because she was for Saks only.+2

If you want to buy a Rootstein mannequin, we frequently have used ones for sale here. You can also sign up to receive an email the next time we get more used Rootstein mannequins in stock or follow us on Facebook.
