To celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, we hosted free flower crown classes for a select group of Bay Area Latina Influencers and their allies. The event brought together an amazing group of women who are using their voices and platforms to uplift culture, community, and creativity.

At one of our classes, we used a Dia De Los Muertos theme. Since most of the guests were Hispanic but not of Mexican descent, we hung signs around the necks of the mannequins in our warehouse to educate the guests about the history and significance of this holiday.

One of the signs explained why people wear flower crowns to celebrate Dia de los Muertos.

While we normally just serve tea at our classes, this one was slightly different. (Afterall, these are Social media Influencers!) We began the event with a bottle of champagne and served Mexican treats and pumpkin-filled empanadas that I had purchased from Delicias Mexican bakery.

For inspiration, we showed a slide presentation of flower crown designs made by previous students. Although the event theme was Dia Del Los Muertos, each influencer could design whatever style of flower crown they wanted.

The ladies made wearable art that reflected pride, heritage, and self-expression. And, because all of the materials are sustainable and eco-friendly, their flower crown will last for years.

We created this YouTube playlist to feature other Latina’s in the Bay Area providing testimonials about their experience making a flower crown at our classes.

Crafting is a creative way to learn about the cultural traditions of different communities. We started hosting cultural-themed crafting classes in February 2022 when we invited Asian influencers and their allies for a Lunar New Year class.
This was when the StopAsianHate was at its peak. As a Black Business owner I wanted to show my support for the Asian community. The event was so successful, it was featured on ABC-TV which you can watch here.
Next year we will host more events for influencers who appeal to a specific demographic or special interest. If you would like to be included, send us an email at sales@mannequinmadaness.com.
