We got a hold of some visual merchandising magazines from the 1980’s and early 1990’s. These were the glory days of window displays, because retailers had the budgets and staff to do really interesting window displays.

Some of the window displays were really over the top with tons of props and mannequins and required a lot of manpower of install. But there are also were a lot of displays that were just interesting, in terms of having eye-catching appeal, yet were relatively simple like the photo above. While the clothes (and mannequins) are dated, the actual display is timeless.

We love that the window showcases a variety of items, yet it doesn’t look crowded or cluttered. And this could be duplicated for different kinds of retailers – a dance retailer, sports retailer, children’s retailer, lingerie etc.

What do you think? Is this a Yea or Nay?
