Flower Crown Class

Flower Crown Workshops Bring Art and Connection to Bay Area Libraries

Public libraries have always been more than just a place for books — they’re hubs of creativity, learning, and community. Recently, several Bay Area libraries invited Mannequin Madness to host our Flower Crown Workshop, and the response has been heartwarming. It’s now a recurring event.

From grandparents to young readers, participants of all ages come together to design their own flower crowns using a variety of upcycled materials. The workshop becomes more than a craft activity — it’s a space to slow down, socialize, and rediscover the joy of making something beautiful with your hands.

Why Libraries Love It

Libraries are constantly searching for inclusive, hands-on programs that encourage creativity and connection. Our flower crown workshops check all the boxes:

Intergenerational fun: Youth, Teens, Adults and Seniors all enjoy making a flower crown. And a flower crown is a gender neutral fashion accessory that looks good on all body shapes and heights – and all hair textures.

  • Accessible creativity: No prior crafting experience needed — we provide all the materials and guidance.
  • Eco-friendly approach: Many of our beautiful supplies are repurposed, aligning with our sustainability goals.
  • Community engagement: Participants often linger to chat, share stories, and admire each other’s creations.
  • Maximize library spaces: We don’t need much space for our classes, but it’s great when libraries get to utilize their maker spaces for community-connecting projects.

Plus participants leave with something tangible – wearable art – that they can enjoy long after the class it over. Every time they wear their flower crown, they will remember the experience they had at the library creating it.

Crafting activities like the Flower Crown Workshop support personal wellbeing and can help cognitive abilities such as memory and concentration.

Workshops like these also remind everyone that the library is a vibrant community hub, not just a quiet reading space. They help build connections, boost attendance, and offer a creative outlet that complements the library’s mission of lifelong learning.

If you’re a librarian or program coordinator looking for unique, uplifting events for your patrons, we’d love to collaborate with you. Our team brings everything needed for a fun and  inspiring workshop.
