Bendable mannequins are typically a wire frame that is covered with a soft cotton like material or foam and then covered in a canvas or jersey material. Grey or off-white are colors used most often in the canvas or jersey materials.
Bendable mannequins are available in either a headless version or with a head. The ones with heads usually egghead style with no facial features.
There two hybrid style bendable mannequins. One has a realistic fiberglass head that has been attached to cloth body.
The other is a fiberglass mannequin that has specially designed articulated arm fitting as the elbow so that you can position the arms into various poses.
Bendable mannequins, especially headless ones, were popularized by The Baby Gap chain and even today retailers of children’s clothing are the primary purchasers of bendable mannequins.
For some reason adult bendable mannequin just never really took off for retailers. You will see them at some athletic clothing retail stores or for novelty purposes – hanging from a trapeze for example.
As with all mannequins, there are low end versions and high end versions of the product, depending upon the quality of materials used and attention to detail in the manufacturing process.
