This is my series devoted to vintage Rootstein mannequins. Plump and Pretty – this is the first series of plus size mannequins that Rootstein released in the 1970s.

Fortunately they retired the use of the word “plump” which was appropriate for that era and when they released another plus size mannequin in 2016. That was Penelope who was marketed as curvy and sexy.

In 1989 they also released another curvy girl which was Diane Brill, the Queen of New York’s nightlife at the time. Diane was more of a celebrity mannequin that was not displayed by many retailers outside of the NYC and LA area.
