Although Marsha P. Johnson, died in 1992, the gay activist and self-identified drag queen is more popular than ever.  (Marsha was born and also known as Malcolm Michaels Jr.)

Perhaps due to the success of the TV Show POSE, people are starting to acknowledge Marsha for being a freedom fighter for the transgender community.

Marsha liked dressing in ways that would display “the interstice between masculine and feminine.” And one of Marsha’s signature looks was wearing a flower crowns.

De Jager, 27, who is openly trans, paid homage to the late LGTBQ trailblazer with her teal embellished gown and colorful headdress at Monday’s event.

She wore a tulle Edwin Oudshoorn Couture dress emblazoned with pink, red and yellow flowers featuring a bow on the bottom reading “Pay it no mind,” Johnson’s response to questions she received about her gender.

When the jeweler AWE,  released a pendant with Marsha’s image wearing a flower crown

They chose POSE star Indya Moore as the model for the advertising campaign and they worn a flower crown.
