This is my series devoted to the real life models who became Rootstein mannequins. The mannequins are also dressed in attire that provides a little bit of fashion history.

Rootstein produced a Beyonce mannequin. I have only seen this mannequin in photos and the production was so limited I don’t think any retailer ever had it. Never seen it on the used market.

The Beyonce mannequin was produced in 2010 for the Dereon clothing that Beyonce and her mother had for a short period of time (see not everything she touches is golden). I kinda think when they closed the clothing line they forbid anyone else from using her mannequin likeness and probably put a few aside in a vault.

Then the mannequin resurfaced again in 2015 at a retrospective of the design team “The Blonds” a duo who makes many of her costumes.

Several years later when the TV show Scandal was hot, Saks Fifth Avenue had a window display with an homage to the series. They made a big deal about a Kerry Washington mannequin (the one in the reclining pose in the white top). But this mannequin’s face looks VERY VERY similar to Beyonce.

I think they just repurposed the mold they used to create Beyonce’s face onto a different body. What do you think?

If you want to buy a Rootstein mannequin, we frequently have used ones for sale here. You can also sign up to receive an email the next time we get more used Rootstein mannequins in stock or follow us on Facebook.
